4D Planning
4D planning means linking every element of the model to its activity in the construction schedule. The result is a simulation of how the project will be built, week by week, before the first machine arrives on site.
That simulation reveals overlapping work fronts, blocked access, impossible sequences and resource peaks that a traditional Gantt chart cannot show. Adjusting the sequence in the model costs an afternoon; adjusting it on site costs weeks of schedule.
It also helps explain the project: showing management, the end client or the neighbors how the works will evolve is much clearer with an animation of the process than with a table of dates.
During execution, the 4D model becomes the reference for comparing real progress against planned progress, with visual evidence of the state of each work front.
